Public Domain Images of Art in Museum Collections

The ability to explore and share resources on art and culture has been significantly expanding over the past few years, as museums and other institutions move to place images of work in their collections into the Public Domain.  The image of Vasily Kandinsky's 1913 painting, Improvisation No. 30 (Cannons), in the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago is an example.  In previous years, copyright restrictions would have made it difficult to share this image with the public.
